Happy Independence Day!!!
Happy Independence Day to us all! When we look around the globe at the conditions in so many countries, we realize what a special holiday this is. There are as many ways to celebrate the day as there are small towns across our state. Here’s a preview.
The City of North Charleston will host a free celebration at Riverfront Park on the Old Navy Base. 3-10 pm
Patriots Point will have their annual free 4th of July Blast beginning at 4 pm. The fireworks will launch from the Yorktown.
Red White and Blue on the Green in Flowertown. The old fashioned family celebration will be held 4-7 pm with fireworks beginning at 9 pm at the Gahagan Sports complex.
Fabulous Fourth on the Creek will be held at the Marguerite Brown Municipal Center in Goose Creek 7-9 pm.
The SC Aquarium will celebrate with a BBQ dinner and music. Watch the Patriots Point fireworks display. 7:30-10 pm
Folly Beach will celebrate at the County Park on the west end of the island. Isle of Palms will shoot fireworks on the front beach at 9:15 pm. I’on will start the day with a parade at 9:30 am with refreshments afterwards, then a concert 6-9 at the amphitheater.
Kiawah Island will host an all day event with parades a buffet, lawn games and fireworks.
No matter where you celebrate, Have a safe Fourth of July
What better way to celebrate than to join in the festivities at Middleton Place, home of Arthur Middleton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. July 4-6th the plantation will be host to re-enactors and many special programs and events. .
If the history of the Civil War and especially the 54th Massachusetts Regiment (remember the movie “Glory“?)is more to your interest, there will be a Memorial Service of the Assault on Battery Wagner on the 18th. at 3:45 on Morris Island. Boats will depart the Maritime Center at 3 pm. Bring your own lawn chair.
