Charleston Kudos

Let’s have some good news now, it’s a rare commodity in the newspapers and on TV it seems. Moody’s Economy.com looked at metro areas with populations over a half million to find those closest to recovery in the housing market. Charleston ranked number 8 in the list of those poised to come out the other side of this crazy real estate market.

The Inn at Middleton Place was included for the first time in the Zagat’s Top US Hotels, Resorts and Spa  2009 publication. It was described as having ” the best of Mother Nature’s creations along with unique architecture at this serene inn on the Ashley River that’s a perfect mix of the modern and traditional.”  Congratulations!

Southern Living readers once again honor us as their Favorite Southern City. We also ranked well in the Best Weekend Getaway, Best Family Destination and Best Festivals groups.

Charleston Place and The Sanctuary at Kiawah were named two of the Best Hotels in the South, while Spoleto was named a top draw for the Festivals and Fair category.

Southern Favorites in the Restaurant category named Magnolia’s and Jestine’s Kitchen. As far as the Splurge Restaurant category, we got 4 of the top 10 slots: Magnolia’s, Peninsula Grill, High Cotton Maverick Bar and Grill and 82 Queen.( a Valentine’s Day reservation, maybe?) 2.5 million readers can’t be wrong!
