A Little History in October

       The second in Charleston Museum’s three part lecture series on the effects of the Revolutionary War on Charleston will be held on the 7th  at 7 pm. If you’re a fan of the Swamp Fox you won’t want to miss “The War in the Backcountry.”     On the 11th, you can learn how archeologists piece together the past and tour the digs at Charles Towne Landing.

     Drayton Hall is hosting the First Annual Archeological Institute the 26th-30th. The week-long course is designed for all levels of skill and will teach the methods and theories of fieldwork.

     If you’ve watched Antiques Road Show, you’ve seen Dave‘s work. The oversized alkaline-glazed pottery from Edgefield, SC and its creator is the subject of a lecture on the 28th at the Chas. Museum. 

    On the 30th, “Revelations from the Ft. Sumter Copy-letter Book” will focus on new discoveries uncovered in this rare US Army Engineers letter book. Included is a special tour of the fort
